Jörg Otte has joined the Baryawno lab in April as a postdoctoral fellow. Jörg obtained his PhD in the field of cancer and stem cell biology in 2019 at the University of Düsseldorf, Germany. Using the ex vivo primary colon cancer organoid model, he analyzed the heterogeneity of colon cancer stem cells and the influence of paracrine signaling factors on their self-renewal.

Jörg has a special interst in using single cell RNA profiling to provide novel biological understanding of neuroblastoma and other cancers. The aim is to investigate the cellular and molecular landscape of tumor cells at the single cell level and mechanisms of communication between cells within the tumor microenvironment in order to search for resistance mechanisms and novel therapy options.
